Rupinder Pal Singh Congratulates Winners of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament Organised by SGGS College

Rupinder Pal Singh , Olympic Men’s Hockey Bronze Medallist , and an Alumnus of SGGS College, was the Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony  of   the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector-26, Chandigarh from November 12-15 , 2021.80 teams  from different regions  and across different categories participated in the event. The Management, SES, honoured the Olympic athlete with a memento and token of appreciation, and reiterated the country and institution’s pride in him. Rupinder Pal Singh appreciated the efforts of the College in organising the event, and motivated the youth to participate actively in sports.  He spoke about his student days, and expressed his gratitude to the College  for the sports facilities , freeships and other incentives provided to sportspersons. He also said that one must follow the motto of ‘Desire, Discipline and Dedication’ in order to achieve success. Other eminent sports personalities included Dr Sunil Rayat, Joint Director, Sports Chandigarh, S Jugraj Singh, Joint Secretary, BFI, Mr Chandermukhi Sharma, Secretary General, BFI , 
and S Rajveer Singh Kahlon, Former Indian Hockey Team player and an Alumnus of SGGS College.

Dr Navjot Kaur, Principal, congratulated the winners, and encouraged the students to follow in the footsteps of Rupinder Pal Singh, who has made the country and his Alma Mater proud with his dedication to sports. In the Under-14 category, Bhaini Bhaga and TESA were the winners in the male and female categories respectively, and Amritsar Hoopsters and Heartians were the Runners- Up.  One Foot God  boys and GNPS girls were the winners in the U-17 category, and NBA Elites boys  and TESA girls were the runners up. SGGS College boys , GGSCW girls , Sports Complex Sector-7 boys and Khalsa Girls  were the U-19 champions. Net Rippers men and GNPS girls were the winners in the Seniors category, and Sports Complex Sector-7 boys and GGSCW girls were the Runners Up. The winning teams were all awarded a cash prize of Rs 5100 each, and the Runner Up teams were awarded a cash prize of Rs 3100 each.
