SGGSC organises Awareness Session on Waste Management and Waste Collection drive
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh organised a Waste Collection Drive and 
Awareness Session on Waste Management in collaboration with Swarmani Youth Welfare 
Association, Chandigarh. Mr Rohit Kumar, Founder, Swarmani Youth Welfare Association, 
Chandigarh was the resource person. He highlighted the need for proper segregation of waste and 
elucidated that mismanagement of waste can cause water contamination, soil erosion and air 
contamination. The importance and methods of recycling were stressed upon. He encouraged the 
students to ensure proper disposal and segregation of waste in their surrounding. 
Awareness about environment and human health was generated in the session conducted by Mr 
Kumar. The event was also in keeping with the Best Practice of Environmental Sustainability 
promoted by the College.
Dr Navjot Kaur, Principal encouraged the students to follow sustainable practices, and work towards 
creating a cleaner and greener environment. She thanked the resource person for sharing his 
insights and lauded the Dharat Suhavi Environment Society, Solid Waste Management Committee, 
SAP, MGNCRE and NSS for organising the event.
