Artist Namboodiri (Karuvattu Mana Vasudevan Namboodiri) expired today morning at Kottakkal, Malappuram Dist. Kerala. He was 97. He was a painter, sculptor, film art worker and relief work artist. He was famous as literary illustrator and was illustrated for many malayalam writers. He was the Chairman of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. In 1974 he won Kerala State Film Award for Best Art Director. In 2003 he got Raja Ravi Varma Award by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. The Jnanapeetha Award Winners of Kerala stamps was designed by him. The permanent pictorial cancellation of Tirur Post Office is his work. He also designed some special covers and its cancellations of Kerala. Pranamam ????
