Chandigarh, September 5, 2023: Chandigarh Spinal Rehab organized a series of events to mark the World Spinal Cord Injury Day. This included Nukkar Natak (street plays) at the city’s prominent locations, like the Sukhna Lake and Sector 17 Plaza. The initiative was aimed at spreading awareness about spinal cord injuries, prevention, and rehabilitation.
Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, an Initiative of Sai Aasra Paraplegic Rehab Centre is a non-profit organization which is working with zeal and commitment for the last seven years in the space of providing holistic and comprehensive Rehabilitation to persons with brain injury and spinal cord injury. Established in 2013, our organization has been providing specialized rehabilitation services, support, and resources to people with severe disabilities.
To mark World Spinal Cord Injury Day, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, and Chandigarh Spinal Rehab teamed up to spread awareness about the challenges faced by spinal cord injury patients. The event included a talk, interactive session, and patient testimonials. The collaboration emphasized the significance of societal support and inclusivity.
Giving the information, Nicky P Kaur, Founder of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab said, “World Spinal Cord Injury Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges faced by people with spinal injuries and the importance of timely medical interventions, accessibility, and social inclusion. At Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, we believe in restoring hope and empowering individuals to regain independence and maximize their potential.
We have empowered several hundreds of persons and have helped them overcome the stamp of disability, the social stigma and the personal trauma, she added.
In fact 80% of them have carved out lives of dignity and purpose for themselves.
They have made a mark not only in the space of higher education, financial independence, IT and communication but also in the field of National and International sports and water sports.,
